Jû-Belloc ( Occitan : Ju e Bethlòc ) is a French commune with 296 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the Arrondissement Mirande and the municipal association Bastides et Vallons du Gers . The inhabitants call themselves Jû-Bellocois .
geography
Jû-Belloc is located on the border with the Hautes-Pyrénées department on the Adour River and in its wide valley, around 28 kilometers southeast of Aire-sur-l'Adour and 50 kilometers northeast of Pau . The municipality consists of the villages of Baulat in the north, Jû in the middle and Belloc in the south. The terrain in the municipality is flat at about 150 meters above sea level. Only the hills in the east of the municipality, partly covered with vines, reach heights of up to 202 m above sea level. Jû-Belloc is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Préchac-sur-Adour and Galiax in the north, Plaisance in the northeast, Saint-Aunix-Lengros in the east, Tieste-Uragnoux in the south, Hères in the southwest and Castelnau-Rivière-Basse in the west.
history
The municipality of Jû-Belloc was created in 1822 from the merger of the previously independent municipalities of Jû ( Occitan : Jus ), Belloc ( Occitan : Bet Loc ) and Beaulat (today Baulat).

In the agricultural community of Jû-Belloc, wines are produced that are approved for the use of the Côtes de Saint-Mont label .
Jû-Belloc is on the D173 highway, which follows the right bank of the Adour from Izotges to Maubourguet . In Garlin , 30 kilometers away, there is a connection to the A65 autoroute .
