Maumusson-Laguian ( Gascon : Maumusson e Laguian) is a French commune with 145 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Gers department in the Occitanie region ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Mirande .
geography
Maumusson-Laguian is located around 17 kilometers southeast of the small town of Aire-sur-l'Adour in the west of the Gers department on the border with the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department . It belongs to the Côtes de Saint-Mont wine region . The most important bodies of water are the Bergons and Saget rivers , the Armenlane stream and some reservoirs and small ponds. The most important supra-regional transport connection is the A65 autoroute (part of Europastraße 7 ), a few kilometers west of the municipality . Riscle and Castelnau-Rivière-Basse are the nearest bus stops (bus route 940 Mont-de-Marsan - Aire-sur-l'Adour - Tarbes).
Maumusson-Laguian is surrounded by the neighboring communities Riscle in the north and northeast, Cannet in the east, Saint-Lanne (in the Hautes-Pyrénées department) in the southeast and south and Viella in the west.
history
The municipality is historically located within Gascony and belongs to the Bas-Armagnac region . From 1793 to 1801 Maumusson and Laguian belonged to the Nogaro district, from 1793 to 1801 and from 1954 to 2015 the canton of Riscle . In 1822, Maumusson and Laguian (1821: 182 inhabitants) merged to form the municipality of Maumusson-Laguian. In the years between 1802 and 1954, the municipality was part of the 1954 dissolved Canton Plaisance.
