Fargues lies in the catchment area of the Adour River .
Its tributaries cross the territory of the municipality,
- the Ruisseau de Téchénérat, also called here Ruisseau de Lagrabe, and
- the Bahus with its tributaries,
- the Baziou and
- the Ruisseau de Labourdasse, which is dammed into a small lake on the border with the neighboring municipality of Montgaillard.
history
The region was already settled in prehistory . The community got its name from the blacksmiths that were operated here from the Gallo-Roman period to the end of the Middle Ages . The village developed around a building called BOMBARDE that the 15th century landowner owned by Lucpeyroux. In 1512 it was sold to a certain de Camon. At this time it was a so-called caverie , which was more important than a noble house, but did not mean a position as the seat of a manor . In 1641, Fargues came into the possession of Charles de l'Abadie, and in 1727 of a certain Bourdeau, in whose family it remained for several generations. Since the 19th century, Fargues has essentially consisted of farms and scattered Meierhöfe .
Population development
After the records began, the population rose to a high of around 560 by the first half of the 19th century. In the following period, the size of the community fell to around 265 inhabitants with short recovery phases until after the Second World War . Up to the turn of the millennium there was a slight increase in the number of inhabitants, later a decrease to around 265 inhabitants before a moderate growth phase set in again.

Attractions
Parish church
It was built in 1740 as a chapel for Dade Castle. The nave with a main and a north aisle extends into an apse with a straight end. In front of the building is a square bell tower with a tiled roof . It has small, rectangular windows and its arched entrance allows access to the church. There are two lobbies to the left and right of the bell tower. The masonry of the church is made of rubble of various materials and pebbles from the area. In 2014, restoration work was necessary to secure and strengthen the facades.
Dade Castle
It is not far from the parish church. The former seat of the manor was probably built in the 18th century, but rebuilt in 1845 by a certain Saturnin de Lucmau. The rectangular building, covered with ocher-colored plaster, extends over three floors. In spite of its imposing size, it has a functional character, as it does not have any conspicuous decorations. Changes were made to the castle and its garden during the 20th century, which is privately owned and not open to the public.
Bombardé Castle
It was built around 1412 on a hill above the valley of the Bahus as an English military post after Gascon was passed to the English crown in the Peace of Brétigny . The property got its name from the bombing of simple cannons, which English troops had been using since the Battle of Crécy . Traces of its fortification can still be seen today in heavy doors, loopholes and a wall thickness of more than one meter in the central building. Today's L-shaped castle initially consisted of a rectangular part, the main facade of which was oriented to the north to a former road that led to the hill. The English developed viticulture and the first Armagnac was sold in the Saint-Sever market around 1417. The castle was consequently equipped with a wine press and several wine cellars. Traces of a large fireplace and frescoes from that time have survived the centuries on the first floor of the castle.
Peyre from Pithié
In the forest of Caillan, northeast of the center of the municipality, there is a megalithic complex made up of several, partly overturned stones. In the middle you can see a deep hole which, according to popular belief, fills with water during certain phases of the moon even during dry periods, which heals diseases and gives women fertility.
Economy and Infrastructure
Agriculture is the municipality's most important economic factor.
Fargues is located in the AOC zone of the Tursan wine region .
