Caching is a French municipality with 226 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Landes department in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the arrondissement of Mont-de-Marsan and the canton of Haute Lande Armagnac . The residents call themselves Cachenais .

geography

Cachen is located in the Landes de Gascogne , the largest forest area in Western Europe, about 100 km south of Bordeaux . The neighboring municipalities are Lencouacq in the north, Arue in the east and south, Bélis in the west and Labrit and Le Sen in the north-west.

The 35.66 km² municipal area on the edge of the Landes de Gascogne Regional Nature Park consists largely of forest. The numerous villages and hamlets in the municipality are located on small clearing islands. The Gouaneyre , a tributary of the Douze in the Adour catchment, flows through the municipality .

  • Notre-Dame de la Nativité church in the Guinas district : originally built in the 13th century and rebuilt in several phases into the 20th century after being destroyed during the wars of religion in the 16th century.

Infrastructure

Cachen is on Via Lemovicensis , one of the four routes on the Camino de Santiago in France. The road to the 10 km southeast of the canton capital Roquefort (former N 626 ) also serves as a feeder for the A65 autoroute .
