Saint-Justin is a French municipality with 974 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Landes department in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Mont-de-Marsan and the canton of Haute Lande Armagnac (until 2015: canton of Roquefort ). The residents call themselves Saint-Justinois . Saint-Justin is a member of the Landes d'Armagnac municipal association .
geography
Saint-Justin is located in the Landes de Gascogne , the largest forest area in Western Europe, about 100 kilometers south of Bordeaux and about 23 kilometers east-northeast of Mont-de-Marsan on the Douze . Saint-Justin is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Gor in the north, vielle-Soubiran in the northeast, Saint-Julien-d'Armagnac and Betbezer-d'Armagnac in the east, Labastide-d'Armagnac in the southeast, Le Frêche in the south, Lacquy in the southwest, Pouydesseaux in the west and Sarbazan in the west and northwest.
history
In 1280 the place was founded as a bastide for the Vice Countess of Marsan and the Order of St. John with the consent of the English king.
