The cover plate had a diameter of 2 m and a thickness of 0.70 m. Another stone is located near the source of the Ruisseau de Lagrabe, in the Larqué district. It can be a fallen menhir or a top plate of a dolmen. Most of it is covered with earth and part of it broke in an earlier time.

The village was founded as a bastide in 1348 on the hill above the Bahus valley . The parish was subordinate to the church of Saint-Ouens in Saint-Perdon . A treaty on feudal rights was between Pierre I of Castelnau and the English king and duke of Guyenne Edward III. closed, which guaranteed both equality. The bastide comprised seven blocks of houses surrounded by gardens. The vineyards were divided in the south of the hill. In 1620 the village was under the control of the Margraviate of Geaune , which at that time was owned by the Castelnau-Tursan family. In the following years the owners of the changed basic rule of Buanes in rapid succession. During the Huguenot Wars , the village sided with the Protestants . At the beginning of the 20th century, a large part of the population was employed in debt bondage to cultivate the leased land in exchange for part of the harvest.

View inside the church

The church was built in the 14th century at the same time as the foundation of the bastide. At the beginning it should consist of a simple rectangular hall, which was bordered in the west by a high bell gable , which was secured in its center on both sides by a buttress . In the 16th century, the church was extended to the east by a semicircular apse that is slightly wider. An old window was recycled during its construction and its south side was fitted with tracery . A chapel and later a sacristy were added on the south side .

In the 17th century the nave was divided into three naves, each two bays in length. This was achieved by two rows of three columns each , which carry segmental arches in the longitudinal direction and arches in the transverse direction to the pilasters embedded in the walls . A simple, flat ceiling covers today's nave. The rear area of the choir is also separated by arcades in the transverse direction, but here in smaller proportions. The shafts of the columns are made of fake red marble . They have Corinthian or composite capitals . In the reveals, rectangular and square fields of fake marble alternate, framed with fleurons and rosettes of a great variety.

The side chapel, dedicated to the Virgin Mary , is covered with slate on the outside, unlike the rest of the building, which is tiled. It was decorated in a different style at the beginning of the 20th century. Your vault with rods from stucco textured. The fields in between are decorated on the right with fine lianas , on the apse with vases from which large bouquets of lilies or other flowers flow.

The bell gable and the interior have been inscribed as Monuments historiques since February 8, 1984 .
