Knežská (German Pfaffenberg ) is a deserted area in the municipality of Rybník nad Radbuzou (German Waier ) in Okres Domažlice in West Bohemia in the Czech Republic .
geography
The village of Pfaffenberg was about 5.5 km southwest of Muttersdorf and 1.7 km northeast of Waier. The Radbuza is about 700 m away in the valley west of Pfaffenberg. The Lohbach rises on the western slope of the 717 m high Muschnaberges (Czech: Mošna). It flows in a westerly direction past Pfaffenberg and joins the Radbuza about 700 m further south-west.
Place name
According to legend, Protestant clergymen were persecuted by the Baron von Muttersdorf and hid by a rock that was later called Pfaffensprung, Pfaffenfels or Pfaffenberg. When they were discovered by the baron, he threw them down from the rock.
The fact is that John III. von Wiedersperg in Muttersdorf (1590-1640) persecuted the Protestants on his territory. There are reports that at that time a pastor from Schilligkau was dragged down from the pulpit in Muttersdorf and had to be freed.
history
Pfaffenberg's founding probably dates back to the 1620s. Pfaffenberg was first mentioned in writing in 1644 with 4 houses. The house owners were called: Hans Stelzig, Urban Schmid, Wolf Heger and Wölfl Widl. In 1654 there were 3 Chalupners , 8 oxen, 1 cow, 7 calves and 6 pigs in Pfaffenberg . Pfaffenberg belonged to the Schwanenbrückl estate , the Groß Gorschin community and the Muttersdorf parish. The children went to school in Waier.
In Pfaffenberg there was a station of the military cordon, which was used to guard the border from 1772 to 1822.
