Horní Huť - upper huts

geography

While the later founded Unterhütten (Dolní Huť) was directly on the Bavarian border on the east bank of the Bavarian Schwarzach opposite the still existing wasteland Neumühle , Oberhütten was about 1 km further southeast up the slope. Oberhütten was 10 km southwest of Muttersdorf , 4 km southwest of Waier and 2 km southeast of Schwarzach . The Graubach flows into the Bavarian Schwarzach 1 km southwest of Oberhütten .

history

Oberhütten was first mentioned in writing in 1618 in connection with the construction of a glassworks. This glassworks was built by the smelter Sebastian Reger on the instructions of Mr. Fux von Walburg auf Schneeberg. Mr. von Wiedersperg on Muttersdorf protested against the construction of this glassworks because the glassworks stood on its property.

In addition to Oberhütten, this glassworks was also called Hiten Schwarza , Pöheimische Hütte Schwarzach , Hütte Schwarzach , Hütte Schwarzach on the Bohemian Side , Altglashütte , Wiedersperger Hütte , Wittersberger Glashütten , Oberglashütte , Obere Alte Glashütte . Employees and workers at this hut were:

  • 1662 and 1664 Andreas Göhl, smelter
  • 1671 the glassmakers Andreas, Hans, Georg and Ulrich Nachtmann, Paa and Meindl.
  • 1696 Hans Georg Nachtmann, smelter, Hans Georg Müller, Glasknecht
  • 1698 Christian Nachtmann, son of Georg Nachtmann, smelter, Hans Christian Nachtmann, Glasknecht, Pomeyer, binder
  • 1703 Christoph Gleißner from Grafenried, glass maker
  • 1716–1734 Hans Georg Müller, smelter
  • 1731 Reichenberger, glassmaker
  • 1735 the glassmakers Christoph Müller, Lindmaier, Schwingl, Erl, Hirsch
  • 1735–1736 Georg Wild from Eisendorf, smelter
  • 1740 the glassmakers Widl, Rückauer, Kopp, Werner and Johann Mages
  • 1738–1743 Christoph Müller, son of Hans Georg Müller, smelter
  • 1767 Johann Mages, mirror maker
  • 1775 the mirror makers Andreas Krämer and Elias Müller
  • 1776 Josef Müller, mirror maker

In 1738 the Wiedersperger brothers Johann Friedrich and Christof Wenzl gave up construction sites in the vicinity of the glassworks. This is how the village of Oberhütten came into being. It belonged to Steinlohe , which belonged to Bohemia until 1766. Until 1851, the residents had Frondienste afford an annual rate farmers 48 days, the Häusler 24 days and Tripfhäusler 12 days and the Inwohner four days. The tithe went to the pastor. Oberhütten together with Paadorf had 93 inhabitants in 1785, 14 houses in 1788, 200 inhabitants and 19 houses in 1839, 329 inhabitants and 36 houses in 1910, 414 inhabitants and 59 houses in 1930. The traditional costumes for men until the 1860s were yellow leather breeches, calf stockings and buckled shoes. Later the men wore all-leather trousers and long coats. Oberhütten initially belonged to the parish of Muttersdorf, later to Waier. The children went to school in Unterhütten.
