history

The place Neubäu was first mentioned in writing in 1596. Originally the place was called Hammersbrunn .

According to the parish registers, Neubäu had been parish in Heiligenkreuz since 1629. In the tax roll of 1654 the surnames Rak, Gang, Adler, Kreman, Grim, Zeug, Liebl, Pfanner stood for Neubäu. In 1656 there were 8 Chalupners , 28 teams, 13 cows, 39 young cattle and 36 pigs in Neubäu . In 1789 it belonged to the Fideikommissherrschaft Heiligenkreuz and formed a community with Fuchsberg. In 1839 Neubäu had 24 houses and 171 inhabitants. In 1913 Neubäu had 33 houses and 262 residents and a one-class school with 63 children, which was initially a branch in Schwanenbrückl. On June 15, 1913, the newly built church in Neubäu was consecrated by Canon Pöhnl. The emperor had donated 400 crowns for the construction and Baron Kotz had provided all the timber free of charge. In 1930 there were 42 houses and 298 Germans in Neubäu.

The Neumühle, below Neubäu directly on the river bank, belonged to Neubäu.
