The Groß Gorschiner water rises east of Groß Gorschin, is dammed up to a pond at Groß Gorschin and flows 750 m further west into the Radbuza.

history

Groß Gorschin was first mentioned in writing in 1579. In 1644, Groß Gorschin and Klein Gorschin are listed separately as belonging to Muttersdorf. In addition, Groß Gorschin came to Gut Schwanenbrückl in 1644, which belonged to Johann Georg von Wiedersperg . In 1660 he sold the Schwanenbrückl estate to his brother Johann Jakob von Wiedersperg for 6773 shock groschen . In 1644, Groß Gorschin had 6 courtyards and 2 wastelands. The owners were: Hans Stelzig, Girgl Wolf, Hans Sperl, Hans Stich, Hans Penket and Wastl Widl. In 1654 8 oxen, 12 cows, 12 calves, 2 sheep and 31 pigs belonged to the 6 farms. In addition to Groß Gorschin itself, Klein Gorschin, Pfaffenberg and Putzbühl also belonged to the community of Groß Gorschin.

The community of Groß Gorschin belonged to the parish of Muttersdorf. The children also went to school first in Muttersdorf, and then from 1789 to Waier.

In Groß Gorschin there was a station of the military cordon, which was used to guard the border from 1772 to 1822.
