Zdeněk Procházka

Zdeněk Procházka (born June 7, 1954 in Pilsen ) is a Czech publisher, publicist and photographer.

Life

Zdeněk Procházka was born in Pilsen in 1954. His grandfather Alois Procházka was the director of the museum in Domažlice . From 1969 to 1973 he learned graphics in Brno and attended a course for conservators. From 1975 to 1980 he was a graphic designer and photographer in the Stráž Plzeň printing house. From 1980 to 1990 he worked as a clerk for advertising at Elitex in Kdyně .

In 1990 Zdeněk Procházka founded the publishing house Nakladatelství Českého Lesa (German: Böhmerwald-Verlag), which is located in Domažlice and publishes books and maps on the history of Western Bohemia . Since 1996, Procházka has also been running the historic restaurant “U Meluzíny” (Zur Melusine) in the publisher's restored house next door. In 2001 Procházka acquired the medieval fortress in Lštění (about 13 kilometers northeast of Domažlice) and began restoring it.

Zdeněk Procházka is the author of a number of books and maps dealing with various aspects of the history of Western Bohemia. The signs that point to the submerged villages in the German-Bohemian border area are thanks to Procházka's initiative.
