The Centrum Bavaria Bohemia (CeBB) in Schönsee is a cultural center in the Upper Palatinate , particularly active in the regions of Upper Franconia , Upper Palatinate and Lower Bavaria on the Bavarian side and the regions of Pilsen , Karlsbad and South Bohemia on the Czech side. The cultural center functions as a bilingual contact, networking and information point, coordinating and cultural hub between the neighboring Bavarian and Czech regions. The CeBB was established by the city of Schönsee in 2006, and the sponsor is the non-profit association Bavaria Bohemia e. V. Since 2016 the Centrum Bavaria Bohemia has been the coordination point for Bavarian-Czech cultural cooperation on behalf of the StMBW.

Goals and activity

The focus of the commitment is the expansion and deepening of the cultural and partnership-based cooperation in the neighboring Bavarian and Czech regions - Upper Franconia, Karlovy Vary District, Upper Palatinate, Pilsner District, Lower Bavaria and South Bohemia District. The public program includes lectures, readings, concerts, cultural tours to the Czech Republic and changing exhibitions.

The Stavitel mostů prize has been awarded annually since 2007 . The prize is awarded to personalities and partner projects, cultural associations or initiatives who have made a name for themselves in promoting understanding between Germany and the Czech Republic and, above all, are volunteering across borders. The first honorary award was awarded in 2009, and from 2010 honorary awards will be awarded every two years.

Sponsorship

After the completion of the construction work carried out by the city of Schönsee, the association Bavaria Bohemia e. V. with members from Bavaria and the Czech Republic took over the sponsorship of the project and the programmatic implementation.

The Centrum Bavaria Bohemia is located in the former communal brewery in the town of Schönsee. The building is registered as a monument in the list of historical monuments. The renovation and expansion for use as a cross-border cultural center took place in the years 2004 to 2006. The successful building renovation was awarded three architecture prizes.
