Waldemar Nowey (born March 11, 1927 in Neubäu , Bischofteinitz district , Czechoslovakia ) is a German educator , educational researcher, writer and local history researcher .

Life

Birth and origin

Waldemar Nowey was the son of the machine fitter Josef Nowey and Anna Nowey, née Rebitzer. His parents married on April 13, 1926 in Heiligenkreuz . At that time the family lived in Neubäu, No. 10, which belonged to the parish of Heiligenkreuz. On March 16, 1927, Nowey was baptized a Catholic in the parish of Heiligenkreuz. Nowey was the oldest of six children.

School time and training

From 1933 to 1938 Nowey attended the Neubäu elementary school. He then switched to the community school in Weißensulz , which he finished in 1941 with a high school diploma. He finished his training at the teacher training college in Eger , which he began in 1941, with a war-related qualification.

Military service and captivity

After national labor and military service from 1944, Nowey came to the Prague training barracks on May 9, 1945 as a prisoner of war. In the years 1945 to 1950, after the "death march from Prague to Brno" through Hungary , Romania , over the Black Sea into Russian captivity, in camps in Transcaucasia: Sukhumi , Saliany, Baku , Mingetschaur and Göylgöl .

Training and employment

After a special course for late returnees at the Institute for Teacher Training at the Oberschule in Freising from 1950 to 1952, which ended with the teaching examination in the Free State of Bavaria, Nowey became a temporary teacher in Merching and Mering near Augsburg . From 1952 to 1953 he was headmaster of the one-class elementary school in Steinach near Mering. Nowey then worked until 1955 as a teacher at the three-class elementary school in Baindlkirch , Friedberg district . He then became a teacher and from 1960 to 1966 senior teacher at the expanded Mering elementary school.

From 1966 to 1969 Nowey was rector of the expanded Kissing elementary school and deputy school board member and training teacher at the Augsburg University of Education . He also worked as a seminar leader in the Friedberg seminar district since 1967. Since 1968 he was head of the state education authority in Friedberg near Augsburg. Subsequently, Nowey became a senior school officer and, in 1974, director of studies of the scientific state institute for educational research and educational planning for political and school advice in Munich, founded in 1972 for the regional and school reform . Here he carried out pilot studies for the introduction of the 9th year of compulsory schooling and the secondary school in Bavaria. He also worked on the following topics: structural models for general and pre-professional education, analyzes and prognoses of educational behavior in small urban and rural areas. From 1984 to 1989 Nowey was director of the government school and, on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, continued his long-term studies on the topic: Regional education and employment system using the example of the administrative district of Swabia.

Since 1989 Nowey has published the AEK study series "Educational regions of open borders in the middle of Europe" and "Educational region Euregio Egrensis" in the working group Egerländer Kulturschaffender AEK eV.

Abitur, university studies and doctorate

In 1960 Nowey passed the Abitur at the State Ministry for Education and Culture in Munich. From 1960 to 1964 he completed a doctoral degree at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . Nowey finished this as a doctor of philosophy in education, psychology and sociology with the dissertation: "Problems and possibilities of the elementary school upper level in the technical age" in the year 1965. Then he devoted himself to further university studies in philosophy , moral theology , German studies , history , political science , culture and science .

Private life

In 1956 Nowey married Johanna Neßl from Merching. The couple had two daughters who, like their father, took up the teaching profession.
