history

In 1646, during the Counter-Reformation , Tiefenbach was again its own parish to which Steinlohe belonged alongside others.

On December 9, 1707, Steinlohe came to the Austrian Crown Land of Bohemia in the border regulation treaty . In 1733 three guilds were established in Muttersdorf : the guild of food craftsmen, the guild of clothing craftsmen and the guild of building craftsmen to which the butchers belonged. Since Steinlohe belonged to the Muttersdorf rule at this time, his craftsmen were also subordinate to the Muttersdorf guilds. From 1739 to 1765 the town of Unterhütten was under the sovereign judge in Steinlohe. 1742–1760 Johann Thomas Baumgartner was a judge in Steinlohe and participated in the land purchases in Oberhütte. A brewery existed in Muttersdorf since 1644 . From 1708 to 1763 Steinlohe had to buy the beer from this brewery because it belonged to the Muttersdorf rule at that time and was not allowed to serve any other beer.

When the Steinloher people installed their own landlord in an empty house, he was chased away, although it almost led to a revolt among the peasants.

Then in 1765 in the main border contract Steinlohe was again awarded to Bavaria. In 1845, after patrimonial jurisdiction was abolished, Steinlohe belonged to Hofmark Tiefenbach and had 21 houses and 190 residents, a secondary school and its own rural community administration.

Steinlohe was a separate community, which originally belonged to the Biberbach Expositur , then in 1810 it was re- parish to Tiefenbach .

On March 23, 1913 (Easter), (Groß-) Steinlohe was listed as part of the Tiefenbach parish with 29 houses and 188 inhabitants.

In 1918 foot and mouth disease broke out in Tiefenbach and the surrounding area . Many cows had to be slaughtered, which resulted in a milk shortage. A milk collection point was set up at the school in Tiefenbach, to which the farmers from Steinlohe also brought milk in buckets.

During the time of National Socialism , the people of Steinloh behaved very cool and wait-and-see towards the new rulers. There were only five members of the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP) in Steinlohe . These were all woodcutters. You were in the NSDAP because the forester von Treffelstein was the local group leader .

The districts of Edlmühl and Altenried initially belonged to the Steinlohe community, but were transferred to Treffelstein due to their application in 1960.

In the course of the regional reform , Steinlohe was divided on July 1, 1972. The southwest part came to Treffelstein , the northeast part to Tiefenbach.

On December 31, 1990 Steinlohe had 80 inhabitants and belonged to the parish of Tiefenbach .

religion

Before 1805 there was a chapel in Steinlohe in which an image of the painful Mother of God was venerated. Originally this picture was in the possession of the count's family in Muttersdorf . Every year many people from Bavaria and Bohemia made a pilgrimage to Steinlohe to see this picture. When the secularization of this pilgrimage ended in 1802, a farmer Huber saved the picture and kept it in his house. In 1812 he built a wooden chapel in which the image was venerated. After this chapel became dilapidated, the image of the Virgin Mary was temporarily kept in the Tiefenbach church. In 1845 a small church was built again in Steinlohe and the picture was returned to it. Since many people made pilgrimages to this miraculous image, the church was expanded in 1911.

In 1942 the Steinlohe bell was confiscated. In 1943, the Steinlohe Church received a small bell so that it could ring at least in the event of death.

In 1968 the "Madonna of Reconciliation" was consecrated in Steinlohe, donated by an unknown woman from America and made by a stonemason in Schönau . In 1969 a new way of the cross was inaugurated in Steinlohe.

Every Monday before Ascension Day there is a walk from Treffelstein to Steinlohe to the Marienkirche. Since 1805 a foot pilgrimage has been made on August 15th ( Assumption of Mary ) from Tiefenbach and Treffelstein to Steinlohe.
