Breitenried is a district of the municipality of Tiefenbach in the Upper Palatinate district of Cham , Bavaria .

Geographical location

The village of Breitenried is located between the Bavarian Schwarzach and the Silberberg about 3 km northeast of Tiefenbach.

history

In 1270, Breitenried was mentioned in writing with the name “Praitenreuth” as part of the Altenschneeberg office . In the Salbuch from 1270, Breitenried belongs to the noble family of Siegenhofen. In 1277 these goods were bought from Friedrich Siegenhofen by Duke Heinrich von Niederbayern . They changed hands frequently in the following centuries. In 1845, Breitenried together with Kleinsteinlohe formed a separate rural community, but was parish after Tiefenbach with 22 houses and 145 inhabitants. In 1918 foot and mouth disease broke out in Tiefenbach and the surrounding area . Many cows had to be slaughtered, which resulted in a milk shortage. A milk collection point was set up at the school in Tiefenbach, to which the farmers from Breitenried also brought milk in buckets. In 1925 a farm road was built from Tiefenbach to Breitenried, which was expanded into a road with a tar surface in 1950. On January 1, 1972, Breitenried was incorporated into the municipality of Tiefenbach together with its part of the municipality Kleinsteinlohe.

In 1582, Breitenried belonged to the - then Protestant - parish of Tiefenbach. After the Counter Reformation from 1646, Breitenried was listed as part of the again Catholic parish of Tiefenbach. In 1905 a church " Beata Maria Virgo " was built in Breitenried , which was considered a side church to Tiefenbach.
