Hoffeld is a district of the municipality of Tiefenbach in the Upper Palatinate district of Cham in Bavaria .

Geographical location

The approximately 20 buildings of Hoffeld are located on the southern foothills of the Frauenstein-Schneeberg massif. The connecting road between Tiefenbach in the valley of the Bavarian Schwarzach on the eastern side and Haag in the valley of the Ascha on the western side of the Frauenstein-Schneeberg massif goes through Hoffeld .

history

In 1582 and 1646 Hoffeld is mentioned as part of the Tiefenbach parish. In 1845 Hoffeld is listed as part of the Hofmark Tiefenbach as a separate rural community with 14 houses and 93 souls. On July 1, 1972, the previously independent community of Altenschneeberg, to which Hoffeld belongs, is incorporated into Tiefenbach.

Culture and sights

In Hoffeld there is the "Hoffelder Linde", the mightiest tree in the area. Its trunk has a circumference of 5.6 m at the weakest point. It is 30 m high and its crown is 20 m wide. The Hoffelder speak of the "thousand-year-old linden tree", the tree is probably around 500 years old.
