history
The hammer Tiefenbach is mentioned in writing for the first time in a certificate from the " hammer cleaning " from the 14th century . But there is reason to believe that it existed much earlier. He obtained the ore from Amberg, 70 km away. The sign of the Tiefenbach hammer was a deer claw. Hammering began to decline in the 16th century. In 1569/70 the Tiefenbacher Hammer could no longer pay his ore debts with the Amberger Eisenhandelsgesellschaft and had to trade wrought iron. At the beginning of the 17th century there was another boom, which the Thirty Years' War brought to an end. After the end of the Thirty Years War, only the hammer house remained . The remaining buildings and workshops were destroyed. In 1841 the old hammer lock was torn down and a new building was erected, which is still standing today (2013).
At the beginning of the 19th century the Tiefenbacher Hammer was put into operation again, but could not stand up to the competition of modern ironmaking with blast furnaces. In 1845 it was converted into a glass ribbon. Hammertiefenbach is performed this year with 6 houses, 67 inhabitants, the hammer castle, a brewery, a chapel and a good bridge. In the 19th century there was a mill, a saw, a glass loop with a foreman and a power station in Hammertiefenbach . As of March 23, 1913 (Easter) Hammertiefenbach is listed with 7 houses and 89 inhabitants. In 1990 a chapel was built in Hammertiefenbach, which enjoys a certain local fame thanks to its elaborate furnishings. Today (2013) the hydropower in Hammertiefenbach is used to generate electricity.
