Altenschneeberg is a district of the municipality of Tiefenbach in the Upper Palatinate district of Cham , Bavaria .

Geographical location

The approximately 50 buildings of Altenschneeberg are partly on the upper slope of the Schneeberg, partly scattered over the plateau between Platte (818 m) and Schneeberg (765 m). The approximately 10 kilometer long, north-south facing and over 800 meter high Frauenstein-Schneeberg massif separates the 520 meter high Aschatal in the west, in which the villages Schneeberg , Haag and Winklarn are located, from the 500 meter high valley of the Bavarian Schwarzach in the east where Tiefenbach is. Only one road connects the two valleys by crossing the mountain range: It leads from Tiefenbach via the village of Hoffeld on the pass to Haag . From this road branches off a narrow spur road to Altenschneeberg on the crest of the massif.
