geography

Schneeberg is located on the banks of the Ascha on State Road 2152 and State Road 2160 . The Ascha forms several side arms in the flat section between Aschahof and Hundhagermühl . In Schneeberg the Hütbach , which rises on the southwest slope of the Heidschlag, flows into the Ascha.

In the damp, flat area around Schneeberg, cold air lakes can form.

To the northeast of the village of Schneeberg lies a large forest area that is part of the Frauenstein, which is visible from afar. Its highest point is the Signalberg (887 m). The ruins of the Frauenstein Castle are also located on the Frauenstein (835 m above sea level). Schneeberg is located in the Upper Palatinate Forest Nature Park , about two kilometers north of the center of Winklarn.

Neighboring towns are in the north Schönthan, northeast Aschahof and Aschamühle , east Pondorf , southeast wind neck , in the south Trad , Forsthof , Scheibenhaus and Hundhagermühl , and to the west Herzoghof .

history

Emperor Charles V confirmed a fiefdom letter to Hans Fuchs about the blood ban in the Schneeberg rule. When he died in 1544, he bequeathed his property to his two daughters, who were married to Georg von Murach and Daniel Fuchs. When Daniel Fuchs died in 1558, his widow Endres married Jörg von Murach, the brother of Georg von Murach. In 1562 the brothers Georg von Murach and Endres Jörg von Murach shared their property. With this division, Schneeberg fell to the Endres von Murach.

The Thirty Years War did not spare the region around Schneeberg and almost brought the hammering system to a standstill. In 1628 it is reported from the Upper Hammer in Schneeberg that it was "completely deserted".

In 1801, Schneeberg belonged to the Winklarn estate, whose owner Adam Anton Bernclo on Schönreuth near Kemnath - Neustadt sold the Winklarn estate in 1803 to the royal Bavarian lieutenant general Carl Wilhelm Graf von Eckart on Leonberg. In 1828 Count Eckart's daughter, Katharina Eugenie, inherited the Winklarn estate. She was married to the French general Count Du Moulin.

In 1803 the Murach office was dissolved and Schneeberg and Winklarn came to the district court of Neunburg vorm Wald . In 1840 the Oberviechtach Regional Court was established , to which Schneeberg now belonged.

On March 23, 1913, Schneeberg was listed as part of the Winklarn parish with 44 houses and 239 inhabitants. On December 31, 1969 the community of Schneeberg was dissolved, to which the community parts Schneeberg, Aschahof, Aschamühle, Buchhof, Forsthof, Höll, Hundhagermühle, Windhals belonged and which had a total of 277 inhabitants at that time.

On December 31, 1990, Schneeberg had 202 inhabitants and belonged to the Winklarn parish.

Culture and sights

In Schneeberg there is a Romanesque church of St. Wolfgang . It has a baroque altar and wooden figures of St. John and the Apostle Peter from the 18th century.
