The Upper Palatinate Forest Nature Park is 81,700 hectares in size and is maintained by the “Upper Palatinate Forest Nature Park”.
landscape
It includes the northern and eastern parts of the Schwandorf district . In the southeast it borders on the Upper Bavarian Forest Nature Park , in the east on the Czech Republic and in the north on the Northern Upper Palatinate Forest Nature Park .
More than 40% of the nature park area is forested . The main tree species in the lower elevations is the pine . The spruce dominates the heights of the Upper Palatinate Border Mountains and its foothills .
Naab and Schwarzach are the main rivers of the nature park. The Pfreimd , Murach and Ascha all flow to important tributaries from the east .

leisure
There are smaller lakes for water lovers. The course of the rain is set up as a boat route from Blaibach to Regensburg for 120 kilometers. A dense network of hiking trails and marked bike paths leads through the nature park . In winter, downhill pistes and cross-country skiing trails are available nearby.
