The Fichtelgebirge Nature Park was founded in 1971 and is located in the triangle of Saxony , the Czech Republic and Bavaria and is 1011 km² in size. It is supported by the association Naturpark Fichtelgebirge e. V. received in Wunsiedel .
landscape
The Fichtelgebirge with its extensive forest and pasture areas lies at the intersection of the Thuringian Forest , Franconian Forest , Upper Palatinate Forest and Ore Mountains . The Fichtelgebirge is the main watershed in Germany and the headwaters of the Main , Saale , Eger and Naab rivers . The highest elevations are the Schneeberg (1051 m) and the Ochsenkopf (1024 m). The main places are Wunsiedel and Marktredwitz .

Sports options include hiking, swimming, cycling and mountain biking, and in winter also skiing and ice skating.
