The Grassemann Open Air Museum is an information point of the Fichtelgebirge Nature Park and an open air museum in Grassemann , a district of the Upper Franconian community of Warmensteinach .

The museum consists of a once-for southern Fichtelgebirge typical Einfirsthof from 1698 with living area, stable and barn under one roof ( byre-dwelling ). It is protected as an architectural monument. The margraves' order to retrofit the fireplace in the houses with a fireplace led to structural changes in 1760. A cellar was also built, which was necessary for the storage of the newly imported potatoes . In 1835 the barn was enlarged by an extension. The house was not equipped with water or power lines. Karl Bedal , who also took pictures of the property, is one of the promoters of the museum concept .

The property provides an insight into everyday life on a small low mountain farm. Agriculture was mainly used for self-sufficiency. The residents also worked in mining, in the forest or as hand weavers. The traces of the history of construction and use are an attraction: the wooden block construction, the black kitchen and the rear- loading tiled stove . On the topic of people and forests, the museum shows the change in the importance of the forest for people from the earlier uses of the forest until today. An educational trail on the historical development of the cultural landscape beyond the museum grounds invites you to take a tour of discovery: if you look closely, you can see remnants of previous uses in the landscape, for example in the form of reading stone walls or pings . The annual program offers changing special exhibitions, museum festivals and markets.

The shape of the courtyard building was the model for the nearby Mehlmeisel forest house .
