The game park Waldhaus Mehlmeisel is a game park on the slope of the Klausenberg southwest of the community Mehlmeisel in the Upper Franconian district of Bayreuth .
Creation of the plant
In 2004, the forest information center Waldhaus Mehlmeisel was initially established in cooperation with the Czech twin town Boží Dar . The architecture of the building comes from Peter Kuchenreuther, Marktredwitz , and Martin Schinner, Nuremberg . The listed Einfirsthof in the Grassemann Open Air Museum served as a model for the design of the house . In cooperation with the Karlovy Vary forestry operations, existing red and wild boar enclosures were expanded in 2014 and additional enclosures were added. The wildlife park was a partner of the Bayreuth State Garden Show in 2016 .
Location and scope
The wildlife park is located on the slope of the Klausenberg in the immediate vicinity of the Klausenturm . The Berggasthof Bayreuther Haus is adjacent to the mountain station of the Klausen lift. The area is the starting point for several hiking trails. This is where the Rieselbach rises, which flows into the Geisbach and feeds the Fichtelnaab . Access is via Mehlmeisel and is signposted accordingly.
The entrance building is also an environmental education center . Several game enclosures are easily visible via the high paths built according to plans by Peter Kuchenreuther. Wild animals include small predators such as the lynx or wild cat , red and wild boar, roe deer, black grouse and capercaillie , squirrels and the rare mountain hare . Another attraction is the petting zoo .
