The Frankenhöhe Nature Park covers approx. 1,100 km² and is located south, east and northeast of the town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Bavaria. The nature park is one of the sunniest areas in southern Germany and offers a very varied landscape with mixed forests, flowing waters, dry biotopes and viticulture.

In the north, here near Hoheneck Castle, vineyards border the nature park towards the Aisch valley.

Protected areas

A large part (76,583.5 ha) of the nature park is designated as a landscape protection area LSG within the nature park Frankenhöhe (formerly protection zone) (LSG-00570.01, WDPA: 396120).
