For mineral collectors there are guided tours in the Fürstenzeche Lam .

history
The oldest human traces in the nature park go back to prehistoric times. One of the most beautiful hand axes in Germany was found near Pösing in the Regental . It comes from the last interglacial period and is around 80,000 years old. There are numerous archaeological finds not only from the Paleolithic Age , but also from all other great prehistoric epochs up to the Roman Empire . The late Neolithic settlement of the so-called Chamer group near Knöbling is famous . Prehistoric and early historical ramparts are located on Galgenberg near Cham , Lamberg, Traitsching and Zenching , among others .
leisure
There are many smaller lakes in the Upper Bavarian Forest Nature Park. The rain course from Blaibach to Regensburg serves as a boat route for 120 kilometers. A dense network of hiking trails and marked bike paths leads through the nature park. Downhill pistes and cross-country skiing trails are available in winter.
Sacred buildings and castles
The Walderbach monastery church is one of the most beautiful Romanesque churches that the Cistercians built in Germany. Her monumental Romanesque paintings are considered an important sight. The magnificent Reichenbach monastery church is a double-towered, three-aisled Romanesque basilica with wonderful stucco work and paintings.
The variety of forms of the pilgrimage church Weißenregen, located high above Bad Kötzting , with the fisherman's pulpit by Johann Paul Hager is unparalleled. One of the most famous pilgrimage churches is located in Neukirchen near the Holy Blood . When in 1658 the Franciscans added their monastery to the current 500-year-old parish church, they used a building solution that was important for the history of the liturgy : They broke open the east wall of the parish church and added their choir behind the high altar , the back of which they used as an altar a grid on. The double altar is a precious Augsburg goldsmith's work from around 1750. The pilgrimage churches of Heilbrünnl , Lamberg, Schönferchen as well as the Margaret Chapel near Einsiedel, the Tannerl near Falkenstein and other small chapels are worth seeing . Among the secular buildings, the ruins and castles are an expression of the former task of the Nordgau to secure the Holy Roman Empire to the east.
