Pondorf (Winklarn)

Pondorf is a district of the Markt Winklarn ( Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Oberviechtach ) in the Upper Palatinate district of Schwandorf in Bavaria and is located in the Upper Palatinate North region .

geography

The church village of Pondorf is located on the slope of the 887 m high Signalberg . The Pondorfbach flows through Pondorf, which rises about a kilometer further east on the slopes of Signalberg and Platte and flows into the Ascha about two kilometers further west at Aschamühle .

To the east of the village of Pondorf lies a large forest area that is part of the Frauenstein, which is visible from afar. Its highest point is the Signalberg (887 m). The ruins of the Frauenstein Castle are also located on the Frauenstein (835 m above sea level). Pondorf is located in the Upper Palatinate Forest Nature Park , about four kilometers northeast of the core town of Winklarn.

Neighboring towns are Aschahof in the northwest and Schneeberg in the southwest .

history

In 1562 the brothers Georg von Murach and Endres Jörg von Murach shared their property. With this division Pondorf fell to the Endres Jörg von Murach.

In 1710 the then landlord Ferdinand von Lobkowitz decreed that the residents of Pondorf had to buy their beer, including childbirth and wedding beer, from the citizens of Schönsee.

On March 23, 1913 (Easter), Pondorf was listed as part of the Winklarn parish with 30 houses and 178 inhabitants. On December 31, 1969, Pondorf was listed as an independent municipality, which at that time had 127 inhabitants. On December 31, 1990, Pondorf had 99 Catholic residents and belonged to the Winklarn parish.

Culture and sights

The Church of the Assumption of Mary, built in 1830, is located in Pondorf. It has a rococo altar with an altarpiece from the 18th century.
