geography

Aschamühle is located on the banks of the Ascha on State Road 2152 . The Ascha forms several side arms in the flat section between Aschahof and Hundhagermühl .

To the north of Aschamühle is the corridor "Auf der Öd", a depression with many large and small ponds. It is a typical example of mineral wet soil or floating soil in which the water table is 40 to 80 centimeters deep. This type of soil is followed by a thin, dark brown top layer of gray, rusty soil. Evenly bluish-gray layers - the actual glide horizon - are located below in the area of the groundwater. These soils have moderately productive meadows, interspersed with sour grasses, mosses and rushes. They are depleted and poor in nutrients of any kind.

In spring the whole area is covered with bright yellow marsh marigolds. Numerous birds, snakes, toads, frogs, pond newts and other wild animals find refuge here.

To the east of the village of Aschamühle lies a large forest area that is part of the Frauenstein, which is visible from afar. Its highest point is the Signalberg (887 m). The ruins of Frauenstein Castle are also located on the Frauenstein (835 m above sea level). Aschamühle is located in the Upper Palatinate Forest Nature Park , about four kilometers north of the core town of Winklarn.

The Federal Highway 22 runs south in about four kilometers away, while the east running border with the Czech Republic about ten kilometers away.

Neighboring towns are Aschahof in the northeast , Pondorf in the southeast and Schneeberg in the southwest .

On December 31, 1969, Aschamühle was listed as part of the Schneeberg community, to which the districts of Schneeberg, Aschahof, Aschamühle, Buchhof, Forsthof, Höll, Hundhagermühle, Windhals belonged and which at that time had a total of 277 inhabitants.

On December 31, 1990, Aschamühle had two residents and belonged to the Winklarn parish.
