geography

Aschahof is located between the Ascha and the 589 m high Deimbühl on the state road 2152 .

The Ascha forms several side arms in the flat section between Aschahof and Hundhagermühl .

North of Aschahof is the corridor "Auf der Öd" - a depression with many large and small ponds. It is a typical example of mineral wet soil or floating soil in which the water table is 40 to 80 centimeters deep. This type of soil is followed by a thin, dark brown top layer of gray, rusty soil. Evenly bluish-gray layers - the actual glide horizon - are located below in the area of the groundwater. These soils have moderately productive meadows, interspersed with sour grasses, mosses and rushes. They are depleted and poor in nutrients of any kind. In spring the whole area is covered with bright yellow marigolds. Numerous birds, snakes, toads, frogs, pond newts and other wild animals find refuge here.

To the east of the village of Aschahof lies a large forest area that is part of the Frauenstein, which is visible from afar. Its highest point is the Signalberg (887 m). The ruins of the Frauenstein Castle are also located on the Frauenstein (835 m above sea level). Aschahof is located in the Upper Palatinate Forest Nature Park , about four kilometers north of the core town of Winklarn.

The Federal Highway 22 runs south in about four kilometers away, while the east running border with the Czech Republic about ten kilometers away.

Neighboring towns are Buchhof in the north , Pondorf in the south-east and Aschamühle in the south-west .

history

In 1801 Aschahof belonged to the Winklarn dominion and its owner Adam Anton Bernclo auf Schönreuth bei Kemnath - Neustadt, who sold the Winklarn dominion in 1803 to the royal Bavarian lieutenant general Carl Wilhelm Graf von Eckart auf Leonberg. In 1828 Count Eckart's daughter, Katharina Eugenie, inherited the Winklarn estate. She was married to the French general Count Du Moulin.

In 1803 the Murach office was dissolved and Aschahof came with Winklarn to the district court of Neunburg vorm Wald . In 1840 the Oberviechtach Regional Court was established , to which Aschahof now belonged.

On March 23, 1913 (Easter), Aschahof was listed as part of the Winklarn parish with 5 houses and 33 residents. On December 31, 1990, Aschahof had 19 residents and belonged to the Winklarn parish.
