Planning region Upper Palatinate North

The Upper Palatinate North planning region is one of a total of 18 planning regions in the Free State of Bavaria .

Planning region 6: Upper Palatinate North

The Upper Palatinate North planning region is located in northern Bavaria. The following bodies are united in the regional planning association: the independent cities of Amberg and Weiden idOPf. and the districts of Amberg-Sulzbach , Neustadt adWaldnaab , Schwandorf and Tirschenreuth as well as the associated district communities. The city of Waldershof in the Tirschenreuth district, which is part of the Upper Franconian East planning region, is excluded .

The regional centers are the independent cities of Amberg and Weiden idOPf. Assigned middle areas are Amberg, Burglengenfeld / Maxhütte-Haidhof / Teublitz , Schwandorf , Sulzbach-Rosenberg , Tirschenreuth , Waldsassen and Weiden. The middle center Waldsassen has links with the Czech Eger .

In 2005, around 500,000 people lived in the region. Over 84,000 of them live in Weiden and Amberg.

history

In 1972 the Free State of Bavaria was divided into 18 planning regions on the basis of the Bavarian State Planning Act of 1970. The Regional Planning Association was established in 1973. The current association chairman is Andreas Meier , District Administrator of the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district .
