Regensburg planning region

The Regensburg planning region is one of a total of 18 planning regions in the Free State of Bavaria .

The Regensburg planning region is located in the center of the triangle between Munich, Nuremberg and Pilsen and includes the southern Upper Palatinate and the Lower Bavarian region around Kelheim. The following bodies are united in the regional planning association : the independent city of Regensburg , the districts of Cham , Neumarkt idOPf. , Regensburg and most of the Kelheim district , with the exception of the communities of Aiglsbach , Attenhofen , Elsendorf , Volkenschwand and the city of Mainburg , which are part of the Landshut planning region .

Around 660,000 people live in the region on an area of ​​5,202 km². The regional centers are the university town of Regensburg and the large district town of Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate . Corresponding middle areas are Cham , Furth im Wald , Bad Kötzting , Kelheim , Neustadt an der Donau / Abensberg , Neutraubling , Parsberg and Regensburg. The middle center Furth im Wald has links with the Czech Domažlice .

In 1972 the Free State of Bavaria was divided into 18 planning regions on the basis of the Bavarian State Planning Act of 1970. The Regional Planning Association was established in 1973. The current association chairman is Willibald Gailler , District Administrator of the Neumarkt district idOPf.
