Regional planning association

Regional planning associations are organizations as carriers of regional planning coordinate the spatial development of a region.

In the Free State of Bavaria, they are among the public corporations . In the planning regions in Bavaria , as an association of the municipalities and districts of a region, they are the carriers of regional planning in the assigned sphere of activity. The regional planning associations in Bavaria came into being on April 1, 1973 on the basis of the Bavarian State Planning Act of 1970.

Regional planning associations with a similar function also exist in other German federal states, e.g. B. in Saxony and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , as well as in Switzerland and Austria. In Baden-Württemberg there are also regional associations .

Exemplary structure

According to Art. 7 Para. 1 of the State Planning Act , the following organs of the regional planning association exist in Bavaria:

  • the association assembly
  • the planning committee and
  • the association chairman

Other parties involved in the planning are:

  • the office with the managing director as well
  • the regional representative for the region at the respective district government
