Culture and sights
Buildings
The symbol of the community is the dragon tower , the keep of the Treffelstein castle , on the highest point of the place. This is the last remnant of a castle that was built around the 11th century. Today the 15 meter high round tower provides a wide view of the surroundings.
The church “Appearance of the Lord” forms the second fixed point of the church structure. This was built in 1934 as an extension to include the existing church. Particularly noteworthy is an oil painting on the left side in the interior of the church, which shows the veneration of the Lord after the birth in Bethlehem by the three wise men.
Green spaces and recreation
Two kilometers west of Treffelstein is the extensive recreational area of the Silbersee with opportunities for swimming, camping, water sports (windsurfing and sailing) and fishing. There is a circular path with information boards and in winter there is an opportunity for ice skating and curling. There are well-developed hiking trails on the shore and around the lake.
