Steinlohe was a separate community, which originally belonged to the Biberbach Expositur , then in 1810 it was re- parish to Tiefenbach .

In 1845, after patrimonial jurisdiction was abolished, Steinlohe belonged to Hofmark Tiefenbach and had 21 houses and 190 residents, a secondary school and its own rural community administration.

The districts of Edlmühl and Altenried initially belonged to the Steinlohe community, but were transferred to Treffelstein due to their application in 1960.

As part of the regional reform, Steinlohe was incorporated into the municipality of Tiefenbach on July 1, 1972. However, various difficulties arose: The neighboring towns of Kleeberg , Kritzenthal and Edlmühl decided to incorporate them into Treffelstein. There were also various problems with property disputes. As a result, the very large community of Steinlohe was divided. The northern part came to Tiefenbach and the southern to Treffelstein.
