Witzelsmühle is a district of the municipality of Treffelstein in the Upper Palatinate district of Cham ( Bavaria ).

Geographical location

The village of Witzelsmühle is located on the south bank of the Silbersee on the Bavarian Schwarzach . About four kilometers south-east of Witzelsmühle, the Bavarian Schwarzach joins the Bohemian Schwarzach to form the Schwarzach .

history

In a report from the regional office on May 2, 1806, Witzelsmühle is listed as belonging to the Biberbach branch with 65 inhabitants. On July 22, 1814, Witzelsmühle was assigned to the parish of Ast .

Witzelsmühle is mentioned in the diocesan register in 1837 with 10 houses and 79 inhabitants. On October 1, 1840, it came from the district court district Neunburg vorm Wald to the royal district court Waldmünchen .

On March 23, 1913 (Easter), Witzelsmühle was listed as part of the parish of Ast with 11 houses and 66 inhabitants.

In 1948 Witzelsmühle came with 11 houses and 66 inhabitants from the municipality of Treffelstein to the municipality of Biberbach.

In the course of the simplification of the administration, in 1968 Treffelstein and Biberbach and thus also Witzelsmühle were incorporated into the civil parish of Waldmünchen. On December 31, 1990, Witzelsmühle had 47 residents and was part of the Biberbach branch . Today (2013) Witzelsmühle belongs to the municipality of Treffelstein, which together with Tiefenbach forms an administrative community that belongs to the district of Cham.

Culture and sights

To the north of Witzelsmühle is the Silbersee with bathing spots and a well-developed circular hiking trail.
