Waffenbrunn is a municipality in the Upper Palatinate district of Cham .

There are the districts Habersdorf, Kolmberg, Obernried, Waffenbrunn and Rhanwalting. The Habersdorf district is shared with the neighboring communities of Weiding and Pemfling , parts of the Rhanwalting district are also located in Cham and Pemfling.

Hofmark
Waffenbrunn belonged to the Lords of Paur . The place was part of the Electorate of Bavaria and formed a closed Hofmark, whose seat was Waffenbrunn.

On January 1, 1972, Obernried and parts of the communities Habersdorf and Rhanwalting were incorporated. Kolmberg followed on July 1, 1972.

Between 1988 and 2018 the municipality grew from 1,795 to 2,023 by 228 inhabitants or by 12.7%.

The heraldic description reads: Split; in front in blue on a silver floor a silver griffin with golden wings, holding a silver lily stem; at the back split by silver and red, at the front a red bar. The coat of arms has been used since 1974.

Economy including agriculture and forestry
In 2017 there were 264 jobs subject to social security contributions in the municipality. Of the resident population, 925 people were in employment that required insurance. This means that the number of out-commuters was 661 greater than that of in-commuters. 23 residents were unemployed. In 2016 there were 40 farms; 716 hectares of the community area were used for agriculture.

Bundesstraße 22 runs about two kilometers west of the town center . The community has a demand stop on the Cham – Waldmünchen railway line .
education

- Day care center with 62 places and 93 children in care (as of March 1, 2018) and
- Waffenbrunn-Willmering primary school with eight teachers and 106 students (school year 2018/19)
