Kaspar Rast

Kaspar Rast (born July 3, 1972 in Zurich ) is a Swiss jazz musician ( drums , percussion ).

Live and act

Rast, from a luthier family originates, made the first self-taught on drums experiences of the brother and the age of five drummers drumming his grandfathers. From the age of ten he received drum lessons at the youth music school in Zurich with Peter Schneider and Robert Mark, later private lessons with Andy Brugger. In addition, he learned piano and violin. From the age of 14 he played in the Zurich jazz scene with Jürg Grau , Chris Wiesendanger , Christoph Stiefel and others. He also completed an apprenticeship as a violin maker. In 1993 he completed a six-month course at the Drummers Collective in New York City.

Rast played with Herbie Kopfs Hip Noses, Triaxis, Rodrigo Botter Maio , Zap, Funky Brotherhood, The Clients Funk Society, Ademir Candido , Heiri Känzig and Max Lässers Ueberland Orchester . Since the early 2000s he has been one of Nik Bärtsch's groups with whom he has recorded numerous albums. He gave concerts and toured through Europe and South Africa as well as through South America with Dana Briant, Benjamin Zephania, Raul de Souza . To do this, he worked with Jochen Baldes , Don Li and Lyn Leon . He can also be heard on albums by Nils Wograms Lush , David Costa, Jürg Grau, Shas Feckel ( Greatest Hits ) and Asita Hamidis Bazaar .

Since 1999 he has been involved in the sound development of Paiste .
