Sindères is a village and a former French commune of 185 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Landes department in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belonged to the canton of Pays Morcenais Tarusate and the arrondissement of Mont-de-Marsan .

The decree of November 16, 2018 established the incorporation of Sindères as a Commune déléguée together with the former municipalities of Morcenx , Garrosse and Arjuzanx into the Commune nouvelle Morcenx-la-Nouvelle with effect from January 1, 2019 . The administrative headquarters are in Morcenx.

geography

Sindères is about 42 km northwest of Mont-de-Marsan in the historic province of Gascony . The place is located in the central area of Grande-Landes in the Forêt des Landes .

Population development

After records began, the population rose to a peak of around 365 in the second half of the 19th century. In the period that followed, the size of the community fell to around 135 inhabitants during short periods of recovery until the 1980s, before a phase of moderate growth began. which continues to this day.
