As a result of the reorganization of the arrondissements in 2017, the arrondissement La Rochelle became the area of ​​the municipality of Anais , the arrondissement Saintes became the area of ​​the municipality of Meschers-sur-Gironde and the arrondissement Saint-Jean-d'Angély the area of ​​the three municipalities of Chervettes , Saint-Crépin and Saint-Laurent-de-la-Barrière assigned to the Arrondissement of Rochefort.
