Marsais is a French municipality with 922 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Rochefort and is part of the canton of Surgères . The inhabitants are called Marsaisiens .
geography
Marsais is about 42 kilometers east of La Rochelle . Marsais is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Val-du-Mignon with Priaires in the north, Dœuil-sur-le-Mignon in the east, Saint-Félix and Bernay-Saint-Martin in the south, Saint-Mard in the west and Saint-Saturnin-du- Bois to the west and northwest.
