Bernay-Saint-Martin is a French municipality with 767 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Poitou-Charentes ); it belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Jean-d'Angély and is part of the canton of Saint-Jean-d'Angély (until 2015: canton of Loulay ). The inhabitants are called Bernaisiens .
geography
Bernay-Saint-Martin is located about 42 kilometers east-southeast of La Rochelle in the Saintonge . Bernay-Saint-Martin is surrounded by the neighboring communities Marsais in the north and north-west, Saint-Félix in the north, Migré in the east and north-east, Courant in the south and south-east, Puyrolland in the south and south-west, Breuil-la-Réorte in the west and Saint- Mard in the northwest.
history
On January 1, 1973, the municipality of Saint-Martin-de-la-Coudre and the municipality of Bernay merged, so that today's municipality was created.
