Saint-Savinien (also: Saint-Savinien-sur-Charente ) is a French municipality with 2433 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Jean-d'Angély and is the main town ( chef-lieu ) of the canton of Saint-Jean-d'Angély . The inhabitants are called Savinois .
geography
Saint-Savinien is located about 15 kilometers north-northwest of Saintes on the Charente River . Saint-Savinien is surrounded by the neighboring communities Archingeay in the north and northwest, Les Nouillers in the north and northeast, Taillant in the northeast, Grandjean in the east, Taillebourg in the southeast, Port-d'Envaux in the south, Crazannes in the southwest, Le Mung and Geay in the West, Bords to the west and northwest and Champdolent to the northwest.
