Sonnac is located about 75 kilometers east-southeast of La Rochelle in the Saintonge . Sonnac is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Haimps in the north, Louzignac in the east, Brie-sous-Matha in the east and south-east, Bréville in the south and south-east, Mons in the south-west, Thors in the west and south-west and Matha in the west and north-west.
