Sonnac is a French municipality with 505 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Poitou-Charentes ); it belongs to the arrondissement Saint-Jean-d'Angély and is part of the canton Matha . The inhabitants are called Sonnacais .
geography
Sonnac is located about 75 kilometers east-southeast of La Rochelle in the Saintonge . Sonnac is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Haimps in the north, Louzignac in the east, Brie-sous-Matha in the east and south-east, Bréville in the south and south-east, Mons in the south-west, Thors in the west and south-west and Matha in the west and north-west.
