The Canton Matha is a French constituency in the Charente-Maritime and in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It includes 63 parishes in the arrondissement of Saint-Jean-d'Angély . As part of the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons, it was significantly expanded in spring 2015.

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton Matha included the 25 municipalities of Bagnizeau , Ballans , Bazauges , Beauvais-sur-Matha , Blanzac-lès-Matha , Bresdon , Brie-sous-Matha , Courcerac , Cressé , Gibourne , Gourvillette , Haimps , La Brousse , Les Touches-de-Périgny , Louzignac , Macqueville , Massac , Matha , Mons , Neuvicq-le-Château , Prignac , Saint-Ouen-la-Thène , Siecq , Sonnac and Thors . Its layout corresponded to an area of 289.21 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 1715.
