Coivert is a French municipality with 213 inhabitants (1 January 2017) in the Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Poitou-Charentes ); it belongs to the arrondissement Saint-Jean-d'Angély and is part of the canton Matha (until 2015: canton Loulay ). The inhabitants are called coivertains .

Coivert is located about 75 kilometers east-southeast of La Rochelle in the Saintonge . Coivert is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Villeneuve-la-Comtesse in the north, Saint-Séverin-sur-Boutonne in the northeast, Dampierre-sur-Boutonne in the east, Blanzay-sur-Boutonne in the east and southeast, Saint-Martial and La Jarrie-Audouin in the south, Lusté in the west and La Croix-Comtesse in the north-west.
