Villeneuve-la-Comtesse is a French municipality with 741 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Poitou-Charentes ); it belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Jean-d'Angély and is part of the canton of Saint-Jean-d'Angély (until 2015: canton of Loulay ). The inhabitants are called Villeneuvois .
geography
Villeneuve-la-Comtesse is located about 50 kilometers east-southeast of La Rochelle in the Saintonge am Mignon . Villeneuve-la-Comtesse is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Plaine-d'Argenson in the north and north-east, Saint-Séverin-sur-Boutonne in the east, Coivert in the south and south-east, La Croix-Comtesse and Lusté in the south, Migré in the west and south-west and Dœuil-sur-le-Mignon in the north-west.
