The District of Saint-Jean-d'Angély is a French constituency in the Charente-Maritime and in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It includes 40 communities ; 39 in the arrondissement of Saint-Jean-d'Angély and one in the arrondissement of Rochefort . As part of the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons, it was changed and expanded in spring 2015.

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton of Saint-Jean-d'Angély included the 19 communes of Antezant-la-Chapelle , Asnières-la-Giraud , Bignay , Courcelles , Fontenet , La Benâte , La Vergne , Landes , Les Églises-d'Argenteuil , Mazeray , Poursay-Garnaud , Saint-Denis-du-Pin , Saint-Jean-d'Angély , Saint-Julien-de-l'Escap , Saint-Pardoult , Ternant , Varaize , Vervant and Voissay . Its layout corresponded to an area of ​​232.01 km ² . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 1729.
