Loulay is a French municipality with 766 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Poitou-Charentes ); it belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Jean-d'Angély and is part of the canton of Saint-Jean-d'Angély (until 2015: canton of Loulay ). The inhabitants are called Loulaysiens .

geography

Loulay is located about 50 kilometers east-southeast of La Rochelle in the Saintonge . The Trézence rises here . Loulay is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities Freude in the north, La Jarrie-Audouin in the east and south-east, Antezant-la-Chapelle in the south and south-east, Essouvert in the south and Lozay in the west.
