Brie-sous-Matha is a French municipality with 179 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Poitou-Charentes ); it belongs to the arrondissement Saint-Jean-d'Angély and is part of the canton Matha . The inhabitants are called Briellois .

Brie-sous-Matha is located about 70 kilometers east-southeast of La Rochelle in the Saintonge . Brie-sous-Matha is surrounded by the neighboring communities Louzignac in the north, Ballans in the east, Bréville in the south and Sonnac in the west and northwest.
