The inhabitants are called Blanzérois .

Blanzay-sur-Boutonne is located about 70 kilometers east-southeast of La Rochelle in the Saintonge . Blanzay-sur-Boutonne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Coivert in the north and west, Dampierre-sur-Boutonne in the north-east, Saint-Georges-de-Longuepierre in the east and south-east, Saint-Pierre-de-l'Isle in the south and Saint- Martial in the southwest.
