Bignay is a French municipality with 411 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Poitou-Charentes ); it belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Jean-d'Angély and is part of the canton of Saint-Jean-d'Angély . The inhabitants are called Bignaysia .

geography

Bignay is about 60 kilometers east-southeast of La Rochelle in the Saintonge . Bignay is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Voissay in the north, Mazeray in the east and southeast, Fenioux in the south, Taillant in the southwest and Les Touillers in the northwest.
